Sunday Stash

As I said last week....
This year I have been working hard on using fabrics from stash for most of my projects.

But for some projects I have been ordering fabric just to suit a new pattern, such as the Mermaid quilt I shared in this postHowever, we all know that at some point you need to replenish that stash. And today's post is all about more fabric additions.

Compositions - Numbers in Grey, Hashtag - Small in Cranberry, Hashtag - Small in Steel, Hashtag - Large in Lipstick and Hashtag - Large in Grey

Most of my early quilts were made strictly using solids. And I am still very fond of solids. I find them comforting to work with. But this past year I spent a lot of effort overcoming my difficulties with using prints. And now I find myself seeking out prints that mostly read as a solid, but that are clearly prints.

Sketch - Candy; Sketch - Ballet; Studio Basic - Pink; Sketch - Tangerine

So this stash addition mission was successful in that I did find some suitable prints - mostly in pinks, greys and oranges. But now I need to start working on finding some purples. I have an aversion to using purple it seems. And it is the next hurdle I would like to overcome.

Mixology - Woven in Cotton Candy; Studio Basic - Grass; Studio Basic - Citrus

For now these new fabrics will be tucked away in my fabric storage. They were not chosen with any particular project in mind. And hopefully in the near future I will be looking for something particular, find one of these pieces and think, "Perfect! This is exactly the right colour and texture I was looking for!"

True Colors - Lodge Lattice in Pink; Boutique Brights - Lines in Pink; Hello Love - Get Back in Blue

This new fabric was purchased from Sew Sisters Quilt Shop

Great additions to your stash cupboard! When you make a purchase such as this, how much yardage do you buy!

Oh, I'm a sketch fabric lover! I tend to use it in every quilt I make, I like the subtle texture it gives and it is available in so many colors. Great stash choices!

Your color choices and low volume finds are delicious! The choices really give your quilts a modern and classic appeal. Purple is tricky. I like the off center purples, plum, chokecherry, things with a little grey or a little yellow added to add to the overall color sparkle. Thank you for more inspiration.

Great selection of modern blenders and near solids, Lorna!

These are great additions. They act like solids but have that special interest that invite a closer look. And you don't need it, but they hide more flaws than solids do.
