Let's Bee Social #150

Welcome to the Let's Bee Social!

I am excited to soon be sharing a couple of finishes with you all! It has been quite some time since I have been able to do so. I completed the tops for the Chicken Ranch, Farm Friends and Flowers quilts - allowing the patterns to be released - and then spent last week in my church basement, where the tables are large, and got both the Farm Friends and the Flowers quilts basted. I took the Flowers quilt back home to quilt in my kitchen. But brought my sewing machine along and quilted the Farm Friends right there in the basement where it is so much easier to do on those long tables.

The old hay wagon has been my quilt photo shoot prop for so many years now. But I'm afraid it is time to retire that old girl. There is such an incredible lean to those walls that it is becoming quite scary. When I last hung up the Black Birds {redo} quilt to be photographed, I was afraid my weight would surely cause the whole wagon to tip right over!

I have had a few smaller finishes since then, but they were able to be photographed with a little help from my quilt holder son, Russell. For those big Flowers and Farm Friends.... I have a plan.... and some plywood.... and a different old hay wagon. Wish me luck!

Yesterday, I finished my third Black Bird quilt. This one has a plaid red bird.

The remainder of this week will be super busy for me. I have a trunk show and workshop scheduled for Thursday night and Friday for the London Friendship Quilters' Guild and another workshop on Saturday for the Dufferin Piecemakers. It's always especially fun to be able to see the participants in the workshop classes making their own versions of my patterns and being able to spend the day chatting with them!

Now... It's your turn for Show and Tell!!!

I washed and ironed some fabric, secret sewing for presents, Tended to the sick cat, learnt that I am such a lucky winner of fabric from The Strawberry Thief and Mollie Sparkles give-away. The old wagon, what stories there, and what a wonderful prop. I have seen old ladders, barn walls, rocks, tree trunks and they are all fab settings. Waiting to see what you do with a hammer and some nails.

Hi Lorna! Old things like your wagon are so great for quilt photos. I hope you find an other good place because it's not easy to take quilt photos. I love your farm animals, quilted and live! Now when we have only small garden I miss so much the big garden and stone walls of our house (just for photo shooting - too much work other wise). I was happy to win also from Mollie Sparkles as Nancy! Looking for to start new quilt! x Teje

Hi Lorna! Congrats on your finishes. The red plaid bird is a perfect little touch to this Black Bird quilt. Looking forward to seeing Flowers and Farm Friends. Good providence w/your plan for a new hay wagon and prop.

It is a tough call but this bird pattern and the little fishies pattern are my favorites of your Lorna. They have such a sweet personality. Have a good week - enjoy every bit of it.

I love that plaid red bird! Make anything in plaid and I'll love it, lol. Thanks for hosting Let's Bee Social!

Whoa! That hay wagon does look a bit precarious! I struggle to find interesting ways to photograph my quilts and use the same places over and over--just because they are close by--lol!

I'm sad to hear that the hay wagon has come to the end of it's quilty life, but I'm excited to see what you will do with the new one. You have been a busy bee getting all of the quilt tops finished. I can't wait to see their big reveals.

I am sad to see the hay wagon go. I loved seeing your beautiful quilts on it. I am having a harder time hanging up quilts outside for pictures at my new house. I look forward to seeing your new spot.

Oh your poor old wagon! I'm sure it's had very good use, at least you have your helpful son in the meantime! Good luck with your extremely busy week :)

Love your old wagon! However it is also the setting which is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
