BIG Pillows

Ta, da! Two quick Christmas projects done and done!

Whipped up these two Great BIG cushion covers - with zippers - for my kids for Christmas.

When working on a wolf quilt for my son, I mentioned my plan to make the kids each a cover for these large - 26" x 26" - pillow inserts I picked up on sale at Fabricland.

I made the wolf pillow cover by using two 26" x 26" pieces of the fuzzy fabric and adding the zipper to the bottom of the pillow case.

For the flannel turtle pillow cover, I used one 26" x 26" piece for the front and two pieces for the back, each 26" wide, one about 24" long and the other about 8" long .

I made the upper piece long enough to hem a flap to cover the zipper.  After sewing the zipper to the pieces, I zipped it up and then cut the piece to measure 26" x 26".

Then I unzipped the zipper and sewed the front and back,
with right sides facing, all around the outside edges.

So there you have it....

Hope they like their new BIG pillows.
And that they don't decide to use them for a BIG pillow fight!

Let's see what else I can whip up today....

Wonderful Wolves! I love pillows and these are great :)

LOVE the wolf fabric... they both turned out great... I usually do the froggy closure over the zipper because I can never get my machine to stich close enough on a zipper... in reality I think the process of adding a zipper intimidates me and my seam doesn't end up pretty like yours :) Thanks for sharing! How cute! Love the zipper. Nice and cuddly for sure:)

Cool. I want to try that zipper at the bottom to get double sided pillow. I'm sure your kids will enjoy both of them.

Those are too awesome and too big NOT to be used for pillow fights. Hmm…turtles vs. wolves…who wins? Great finishes, Lorna!
